Your Path to Teacher Leadership
Teacher leadership provides a path for those who want to have a positive impact on the broader culture of the center and quality programs it provides. To be a teacher leader is to commit to supporting the growth of development of not only the children in a classroom, but of colleagues, a program, and the profession of early childhood education. This course helps professionals understand what it means to be a teacher leader and supports them in examining ways they might increase their influence for the benefit of others. The journey begins by reflecting on the five teacher leader competencies and how they might support their growth in each. As teachers set goals around these competencies, they are deliberately plotting their own path to teacher leadership. This is a 5 hour course that aligns with CDA Subject Area 6.

“I really struggled in this course due to the fact I felt that I didn't see a reason as to why I wanted to be in teacher leadership. But after taking this course, I recognize that I can help other teachers by being knowledgeable about my job and the resources available to us.”
