STEM in the Preschool Classroom
Watch this short video to learn more about this class.
Young children are naturally curious. They wonder what things are called, how they work, and why things happen. The foundations of learning lie in this inquiry and exploration. Fostering young children’s sense of curiosity about the world promotes interest in lifelong learning and teaches skills needed for success in school and beyond. Children learn best about their world when teachers introduce playful activities that employ various technologies to introduce STEM, science, math, and engineering, and scaffold those activities in such a way that playful exploration becomes real learning. Through interactive learning activities, group discussion forums, videos, and reflective writing exercises, participants will learn to create a classroom where rich STEM learning takes place. This is a 5-hour course worth 0.5 CEUs.
This course can be utilized to meet the training requirements to earn or renew your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Course content is aligned with the CDA Subject Area 2: Advancing children's physical and intellectual development.
