Self-Care for Educators
Taking care of children is a fun and rewarding job, but it's not the easiest. Add that to the rigors of daily life, and many educators experience stress on a daily basis. And chances are you're putting everything and everyone on your to do list ahead of yourself. Part of what makes people in helping professions good at what they do is their natural inclination to put others first. That can also be their downfall. Self-Care for Educators explains why self-care is essential, identifies the benefits of engaging in self-care, and provides tips and strategies for doing just that. The course also shows the connection between the Protective Factors Framework and educators' self-care. This course aligns with CDA Subject Area 6, and it is worth 0.4 CEU's.

"In taking this course, I realized that I have to do more to take care of myself in order to be there for those I serve and my family. I must take time throughout the day to care for me. When you are stressed and lack sleep, you are not your best."
-Brenda G., DC, 2021
“This was a great lesson. Self-care is always important, but it is easy to feel guilty to take time for yourself and put it on the back burner; in order to take care of your students and friends around you, you have to be healthy as well. In order to care for others, you must care for yourself to be able to give others the best you."
-Cami S., UT, 2021
“I always knew that self-care was important, but this course helped me determine exactly why... I now know many strategies to use, not only in my program, but in my personal day to day life. I understand that in order to help children learn and grow, I need to help myself first.”
-Jeaqueline G., MD, 2021
"I should prioritize my mental health and self-care, especially in this field in where we as educators care more about our children than we do about ourselves. This field can be stressful, but there are ways that I learned in this training on how to care for myself and my mental health."
-Estrella G., CA, 2021
